Our Faith
Symphony Church belongs to the Korean American Presbyterian Church (KAPC).
Along with all churches in the KAPC, we hold the following as the biblical foundations of our faith.
1. Authority of Scripture
2 Timothy 3:16-17
The Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, the only infallible rule for faith and practice. Scripture holds the highest authority in every area of our faith and life and is God's error-free revelation.
2. The Triune God
Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:13
God is one in essence and three in persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—yet one God. God is unique, omnipresent in creation, and the Creator with infinite wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.
3. Jesus Christ
John 1:14, Philippians 2:6-8
In His infinite love, God sent His eternal only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to save humanity from sin, corruption, and the punishment of sin, and to give eternal life. Jesus was born of a virgin, died on the cross, rose again, and ascended.
4. Salvation
Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:23-24
God chose His people in Christ and commands all people to salvation through repentance and faith. Salvation is God's gift, not human work, given by grace alone, through faith alone, to those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior.
Core Truths We Believe
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, who comes from the Father and the Son, works so that people participate in salvation, causes believers to be born again, indwells them, and carries out the work of sanctification.
Church
The church is the body of Christ and the community of all redeemed believers who worship God and love one another.
Sacraments
Baptism and the Lord's Supper are sacraments instituted by Christ, administered to those who confess faith and their children, and are holy ordinances that signify union and fellowship with Christ.
Eternal Life
The dead will be raised at the last day and be rewarded according to their deeds before the judgment seat of Christ. Believers receive eternal life and enjoy everlasting fellowship with God.
Second Coming
The dead will be raised at the last day, and Jesus Christ will return in glory to judge the living and the dead and complete the kingdom of God.
Great Commission
Believers should join the church, keep the Lord's Day holy, offer gifts, proclaim the gospel to all nations, make disciples, and strive to expand the kingdom of Christ.
Biblical Foundation
Westminster Confession of Faith
We hold the Westminster Confession of Faith as the standard of biblical doctrine.
Reformed Tradition
We confess sola Scriptura, sola gratia, and sola fide in the Reformed tradition.
Presbyterian Polity
We govern the church through a Presbyterian system grounded in Scripture.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."- 2 Timothy 3:16-17
